How does a community celebrate a bridge’s impending implosion?

In Greenfield, they throw a party.

The most interesting part was you could enter a raffle for $10/ticket to “push the button” that brings the bridge down this December.

Here’s looking at you, bridge.

Japan Day 3: Thousands of Torii Gates
Most of day 3 was in the fox shrine, Fushimi Inari Taisha, where we hiked mountain paths dotted with thousands of vermilion torii gates. Afterwards, we visited the zen gardens at Tofukuji. To rest, we took a dip in a public bath, where I intentionally got zapped with electricity.

Things I Love About Japan: Mascots
Dave and I are recently back from an amazing two-week adventure in the historical city of Kyoto, Japan. While I sort through everything we brought back, I can’t help but linger over some things, and one of the most consistent themes of the trip was mascots.
